About Indweller Artistic

Sacred Art Created to Serve the Church

Indweller Artistic creates original sacred sculpture for churches, schools, universities, cemeteries, hospitals, and other institutions. Each work begins with a story—a patron saint, a passage of Scripture, a community’s history, or a place calling for something meaningful.

We believe sacred art should do more than occupy a space. It should invite an encounter. It should help people see a familiar story differently, discover something they had not noticed before, and draw them more deeply into faith.

That belief guides every sculpture we create.

From an Idea to a Work of Sacred Art

Creating an original sculpture is a collaborative process.

Sometimes a community comes to us knowing exactly what it wants. Other times, it begins with little more than an idea: a particular saint, a ministry, a piece of Scripture, or a story important to the people who will encounter the sculpture every day.

Indweller develops that idea through research, conversation, original drawings, and visual concepts. From there, specialized artists and artisans bring the work into three dimensions—sculpting in clay and ultimately producing the finished piece in bronze, marble, wood, resin, or other materials appropriate to the project.

Throughout the process, the client remains part of the conversation. The goal isn’t simply to create a beautiful sculpture. It is to create the right sculpture for that particular community and place.

The Hands Behind the Work

Every Indweller sculpture passes through the hands of skilled artists and artisans. Drawing, sculpting, carving, casting and finishing require different disciplines, and each contributes something essential to the finished work.

One Work. Many Hands.

An Indweller sculpture is the result of collaboration.

The concept artist considers the story. The sketch artist finds the composition. The sculptor gives it form. Foundry artisans, carvers, finishers, and other specialists contribute their expertise according to the material chosen for the finished work.

Behind all of them is a shared objective: to create sacred art worthy of the story it has been entrusted to tell.

This collaborative model also allows Indweller to offer communities something unusual—the opportunity to commission truly original sacred art while selecting from different materials, sizes, and approaches appropriate to their space and budget.

About Indweller Artistic

Indweller Artistic is led by owner and president Debra McLaughlin, who works directly with clients to develop the stories and concepts behind Indweller’s original sculptures and coordinates the artists and artisans who bring them to life.

Debra designs the concepts herself, before assigning her artisans to draft and create the piece. She is also in charge of all logistics from creation to final delivery.

From the first conversation through concept development, artistic production, material selection, and installation planning, Indweller guides each project as a whole.

For clients, that means commissioning original sacred art does not have to begin with knowing how to commission a sculpture. It can begin much more simply:

Tell us your story. Show us your space. We’ll help you imagine what is possible.

Sacred Art for a Living Church

The most meaningful moment in the life of a sculpture often comes after our work is finished.

It is the child who reaches out to touch the hand of a saint. The student who passes the sculpture every morning on the way to class. The family who stops before it after Mass. The person who discovers, perhaps unexpectedly, that a figure cast in bronze or carved in wood has helped make a story of faith feel present.

That is why we create sacred art.

Not simply to be seen.
To be encountered.
