Family Life
Faith for Generations
An original Indweller design (rendered with AI) depicting Mary, Joseph, the Child Jesus, and Saints Anne and Joachim in a two-part composition—a joyful image of family love, faith, and the bonds that unite generations.
The story
Story Behind the Sculpture
Family Life presents the Holy Family within the warmth of an extended family. Joseph joyfully lifts the Child Jesus while Mary stands close beside him. Saints Anne and Joachim look on with the unmistakable affection of grandparents delighting in their grandchild.
Rather than a formal portrait, the sculpture captures a familiar family moment—parents, grandparents, and child drawn together in love, with Jesus at the center.
What the details mean
Symbolism in the Sculpture
Jesus at the Center
Raised above the family, Jesus becomes the visual and spiritual focus of the composition. The upward gazes of those around Him reinforce the message of Christ at the heart of family life.
Joseph and Mary
Joseph’s playful gesture reveals the tenderness and joy of fatherhood, while Mary stands close beside him, sharing his delight in their Son.
Saints Anne and Joachim
The grandparents of Jesus represent family heritage and the transmission of faith from one generation to the next.
Three Generations
Grandparents, parents, and Child form a single interconnected composition—a visual expression of faith lived within the family and handed forward.
One Composition — Two Sculptures
Family Life is actually composed of two individual sculptures: Saints Anne and Joachim form one grouping, while Mary, Joseph, and the Child Jesus form the other.
Together they create the complete multigenerational composition, but the Holy Family grouping can also be commissioned separately. This gives parishes and other Catholic institutions the flexibility to choose either Mary, Joseph, and Jesus alone or the complete Family Life sculpture.
