The story

Story Behind the Sculpture

One Faith, One Lord, One Baptism was created to give three historic churches a shared visual expression of their new life as one parish family.

At the heart of the sculpture is the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Beneath them stand the three churches, each preserving its own identity and history while becoming part of something greater.

The sculpture celebrates a unity that does not erase what makes each community unique. Three churches. One parish family. One faith, one Lord, one baptism.

Symbolism

Holy Trinity — The Holy Trinity

The Holy Trinity

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit preside over the entire composition, expressing the source of the parish family’s unity: the one Triune God.

Holy Trinity — The Three Churches

The Three Churches

St. Mary’s, Holy Trinity, and St. Joseph’s are represented individually within the relief. Each remains recognizable, honoring the history and identity of the communities that built and worshipped within them.

The Glory Be

The prayer flowing beneath the Trinity—Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit—places the entire composition within the Church’s prayer of praise to the Triune God.

The Trinity Knot

The interwoven Trinity knot symbolizes three Persons in one God—distinct, yet inseparable.

One Faith, One Lord, One Baptism

The words across the base are drawn from St. Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians and express the central message of the sculpture: many communities united through the same Catholic faith.

Scripture reflection

Scripture Reflection

Ephesians 4:5–6

“One Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”

The Church is made up of many communities, traditions, and histories, yet all are drawn together in Christ. This sculpture gives visible form to that communion—honoring what is distinct while proclaiming what is shared.
