Our Lady of the Holy Rosary
Bringing Mother Flowers
An original Indweller design (rendered with AI) depicting a grandmother teaching her granddaughter to pray the Rosary, as their prayers rise toward Mary and each bead blossoms into a rose.
The story
Story Behind the Sculpture
Bringing Mother Flowers begins with a simple act of faith passed from one generation to the next: a grandmother teaching her granddaughter to pray the Rosary.
They kneel together, beads in their hands, repeating prayers that Catholic families have passed from parent to child and grandparent to grandchild for centuries. But the sculpture allows us to see what the little girl cannot ordinarily see.
As their prayers rise toward Heaven, each bead of the Rosary becomes a blooming rose.
The Rosary forms a visible connection between grandmother, child and Mary. What begins in their hands as a familiar string of beads gradually becomes an offering of flowers until it reaches the Blessed Mother, who receives their prayers as an armful of roses.
The little girl looks upward with joy. She suddenly understands what her grandmother is teaching her: her prayers are reaching Mary. They are not disappearing into the air. They are being received as something beautiful—a gift offered with love.
It is the spiritual reality of the Rosary expressed through the familiar experience of a child bringing flowers to her mother.
And the grandmother stands at the heart of that discovery. She is not simply teaching her granddaughter how to recite a prayer. She is introducing her to Mary and passing on a devotion that can accompany the child throughout her life.
What the details mean
Symbolism

The Grandmother and Child
The two generations kneeling together represent the transmission of faith within the family. The grandmother teaches by doing: praying beside the child and showing her how a relationship with Mary is formed through prayer.

The Rosary of Roses
The transformation of the Rosary beads into roses makes the invisible visible. Each prayer becomes a flower, creating an offering that rises toward Mary.

The Child's Expression
The girl's upward gaze and smile capture the moment of discovery. She sees that the prayers she is offering have become something beautiful and that Mary receives them with love.

Mary's Armful of Roses
Mary does not simply stand at the end of the Rosary. She receives what is being offered. The roses gathered in her arms represent the prayers entrusted to her by her children on earth.

The Grandmother’s Devotion
The grandmother’s devotion to the Blessed Mother is expressed through her contemplative posture, teaching by example the reverence necessary when praying the rosary, as countless Catholic grandmothers have done for generations.

Bringing Mother Flowers
A child does not bring her mother flowers because she must. She brings them because she loves her.
That simple gesture gives the sculpture its title and its emotional center. The Rosary becomes more than a sequence of prayers—it becomes an act of affection, like bringing Mother flowers.

Scripture reflection
Scripture Reflection
Luke 1:28
“Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you.”
The words spoken by the angel Gabriel become part of the prayer the grandmother places into the hands and heart of her granddaughter. Through the Rosary, the child learns to return again and again to the mystery of Mary's extraordinary yes to God.
Luke 1:42
“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”
Elizabeth's greeting to Mary also lives within the Hail Mary. Words first spoken at the Visitation continue to be prayed across generations, linking the grandmother and child to a prayer rooted in Scripture.
John 2:5
“Do whatever he tells you.”
Mary always directs attention toward her Son. The flowers of prayer lead to Mary, but Mary's own mission leads the faithful to Jesus.
