Mary and the Child Jesus
To Jesus Through Mary
An original Indweller design (rendered with AI) depicting Mary as the young mother of Nazareth, carrying the Child Jesus and extending her hand in welcome—inviting others to come to Him.
The story
Story Behind the Sculpture
To Jesus Through Mary presents Mary not as a distant queen, but as a young mother from Nazareth—approachable, human, and deeply maternal.
Jesus rests naturally on her hip, secure in her arms. The image is intentionally ordinary: a mother carrying her little boy.
Mary’s extended hand gives the sculpture its meaning. She welcomes the viewer while directing attention toward the Child she carries.
The Child Jesus is warm and approachable, reinforcing the humanity of the Incarnation: the Son of God truly entered the world as a child who was held and loved by His mother.
The title Ad Jesum per Mariam—To Jesus Through Mary—expresses the heart of the piece. Mary receives Christ, carries Him, and brings Him to others.
