The story
Story Behind the Sculpture
Created as a visual expression of the Canadian Army Ethos, this richly detailed bas-relief brings together soldiers, symbols, and scenes of military service across generations. At its center stands the Canadian soldier, surrounded by imagery representing service, sacrifice, courage, and the enduring responsibilities of military life.
The composition is unified by the four words that define the work: Duty. Integrity. Discipline. Honour.
The story
Details That Tell the Story
Rather than depicting a single moment, the bas-relief unfolds as a collection of interconnected scenes. Soldiers in different settings and roles are layered with Canadian military symbols and imagery, allowing viewers to discover new details as they move closer to the sculpture.
The dimensional bronze relief creates strong highlights and shadows, giving the piece a sense of movement while allowing a complex story to be presented within a relatively shallow architectural form.
Designed for Military & Commemorative Spaces
A custom bas-relief can transform a wall into a permanent storytelling surface without requiring the footprint of a freestanding monument. Historical events, insignia, portraits, symbols, inscriptions, and organizational values can all be incorporated into one cohesive work of art.
This approach is particularly well suited to military installations, regimental buildings, memorials, museums, veterans' spaces, and commemorative walls.
A Lasting Expression of Service
Canadian Army Ethos honors more than military history. It speaks to the principles carried forward by those who serve—and the responsibility of future generations to remember them.
