Intervention
Lifted Up
An original Indweller design (rendered with AI) depicting a woman and an angel lifting a man who can no longer rise alone, making visible the grace that accompanies every act of love and intervention.
The story
Story Behind the Sculpture
Intervention portrays a moment when someone who has fallen can no longer rise alone. A woman reaches for the man’s hand while an angel supports him from behind, making visible the spiritual help that often accompanies the love and intervention of others.
The sculpture speaks to addiction, recovery, prayer, and hope—and to the truth that even in our darkest moments, God has not abandoned us.
What the details mean
Symbolism

The Woman’s Outstretched Hands
She reaches toward the man rather than turning away, representing the family members, friends, counselors, and communities who refuse to give up on someone they love.

The Angel
The angel makes the unseen visible: God’s grace at work alongside human efforts to help someone struggling with addiction.

The Man Being Lifted
He is neither standing nor completely fallen. His upward movement represents the difficult but hopeful beginning of recovery.
The Objects on the Ground
The discarded bottle and drug paraphernalia identify the struggle directly, while their position beneath him suggests the possibility of leaving addiction behind.
A Sculpture of Hope and Recovery
Intervention is especially suited to Catholic hospitals, treatment and recovery centers, retreat centers, parish outreach ministries, and communities serving individuals and families affected by addiction.
It offers a powerful message to anyone who encounters it:
There is help. There is hope. You can be lifted up.

Scripture reflection
Scripture Reflection
John 8:36
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
Addiction can create powerful bonds of dependency, isolation, and despair. Christ offers a freedom deeper than the forces that hold us captive. Intervention captures the moment when that freedom begins to seem possible again.
